When we asked our Facebook friends on what they give Santa for Christmas Eve (link), many of you revealed that you treat him to a few drinks (or more).
What do Australians leave out for Santa Claus?
We’re not quite sure how Santa manages to drink so much alcohol. From six-packs of Asahi and Jack Daniels, to bottles of Guinness or Jack Daniels, as well as a glass of Port. As taste.com.au’s Rebecca pointed out, “I am worried that Santa is going over his limit in terms of the amount of alcohol.”
Then again, with so many children to see in one night, this man deserves a drink!
What are you planning to serve?
Cory: “Last Christmas, it was six Asahi and Santa had an amazing night.”
Lea
Kay Low Alcohol Beer
Melody: “I’m Santa, so the kids should be leaving out cider.”
Sarah Louise: “Budweiser cookies made by kids.”
Kerri-Lyn: “What my Irish Husband used to leave me was a ham sandwich, and a Guinness bottle.”
“A VB stubby,” Melanie
“Jack Daniels,” Elizabeth
“Empty beer bottles,” Teena
What are the recommendations of experts?
When we asked our team of cocktail experts – and yes, they exist – what drinks should be left out for the Red Man, they recommended three.
To keep him awake and to allow him to check off his long list of recipients, they suggested our Iced Baileys Coffee. It is perfect for caffeine, doesn’t get cold, and only requires two ingredients.
The muskstick margarita was next. It’s beautiful, nostalgic, and adds some fanfare.
Our experts recommend this watermelon “nojito” to keep Santa in line – he is a busy man, after all. It looks amazing.
